As a life-long Giants fan, I’m hoping for the first ever SF World Series win. I wouldn’t be real upset, however, if the Rangers happen to take the series.
I do think pitching Tim Lincecum in Game 1 is a mistake, and Bochy should have started with Matt Cain instead.
While the Giants considered going to Cain for the opener, Bochy said Lincecum will be well rested despite briefly pitching in relief Saturday night in the NL Championship Series clincher at Philadelphia.
When Tim went through his bad spell in August, a lot of baseball insiders felt it was because his arm was dead, and he needed some rest. I believe Lincecum has thrown more pitches than any other pitcher in the majors over the last two years. Personally, I think Tim would have benefited from another day of rest by starting Game 2. Hopefully, I’ll be wrong!
